Keynote 1

M. Omair SHAFIQ, PhD
Carleton School of Information Technology

Subject: Log Modeling and Analytics for Big Data and Applications

Dr. M. Omair SHAFIQ is an Assistant Professor at the School of Information Technology, Carleton University. His research interests include Data Modeling, Big Data Analytics, Services Computing, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing. He received NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowship Award and Mitacs Postdoctoral Fellowship Award in 2015-2016 competition, NSERC Vanier Scholarship in 2012, Alberta-Innovates Technology Futures (AITF) Scholarships for PhD and Master studies in 2011 and 2010, J.B. Hyne Research Innovation Award from University of Calgary in 2012, Departmental Research Award from University of Calgary in 2009 and 2010 and Teaching Excellence Award from University of Calgary in 2011. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications in journals, book chapters, conferences and workshops, served in technical program committee of over 30 conferences and workshops, co-organized more than 8 conference and workshops.

Liang WU, Researcher
Arizona State University

Subject: Understanding and Detecting Fake News in Social Media

Liang WU has been a PhD student of Computer Science and Engineering at Arizona State University since August, 2014. He obtained his master's degree from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014 and bachelor's from Beijing Univ. of Posts and Telecom., China in 2011. The focus of his research is in the areas of misinformation and content polluter detection, and statistical relational learning. He has published over 20 innovative works in major international conferences in data mining, such as ICDM, SDM, WSDM and ICWSM. Liang has participated in various competitions and data challenges and won the Honorable Mention Award of KDD Cup 2012 on predicting click-through rate of search sponsored ads, ranking 3rd on leaderboard. He is also an author of 5 patent applications and 2 book chapters, and he is a tutorial speaker at SBP'16. He has been a Research Intern at Microsoft Research Asia and a Data Science Intern at Etsy. Ramazan BAYINDIR, PhD
Gazi University

Subject: Capacity Mechanism and Available Applications in Europe

Ramazan BAYINDIR, completed his undergraduate studies at Gazi University, Electrical Education Dep. in 1992 and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Institute of Science & Technology, Gazi University in 1998 and in 2002 respectively. Dr. Ramazan BAYINDIR worked as a Research Assistant, Assistance Professor in Electrical Education Department at Gazi University. he became an Assoc. Prof. at Electrical & Electronics Engineering Dep. at Gazi University. Currently, he is working as a Professor at the same department. His main expertise field include renewable energy sources, microgrids, distributed generation, smart grid applications and industrial automation with programmable logic controller (PLC). He has been a program chair to the annual conference of the International Conference on Renewable Energy Research and Applications (ICRERA 2012-2017),  16th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference and Exposition (PEMC 2014) and International Conference on Power Engineering, Energy and Electrical Drives, (POWERENG 2013) conference.
He served as guest editors for same SCI-indexed reputable journals.  He also served as reviewer to many high ranked scientific journals. Currently he is the editor of Journal of Science and Technology: PART C. He has published journal and conference papers on renewable energy sources, microgrids, distributed generation, smart grid applications and industrial automation. Some international (EU) projects are 2007 and 2013 Transfer of Innovation and Partnership Project Programs.  
He has some key qualifications such as education and curriculum design and development on different fields, vocational and technical education, designing, organization and planning the international level projects, educational and vocational training material development. He is member of IEEE.

Ibrahim KOK
Gazi University

Subject: IoT and Cyber Security

Ibrahim KOK received his Master's Degree in Computer Science from Gazi University Informatics Institute. During his MSc study, he has worked on Vehicle to Vehicle Ad hoc Network Application. He is currently PhD student in Computer Science Department at Gazi University Informatics Institute where he works on "Deep Learning in IoT Data". He is also interested in Internet of Thing, Deep Learning and Data analytics.

Keynote 5

Mehmet DEMIRCI, PhD
Gazi University

Subject: Agile Network Defense Using Cyber Threat Intelligence

Mehmet DEMIRCI is currently working as an assistant professor at Gazi University Computer Engineering Department. He is also an active faculty member of Gazi University Information Security Engineering Graduate Program and ASELSAN Academy. He received his MS and PhD degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology, and his BS degree from Purdue University. His active research areas are SDN, NFV, 5G, and cyber security. He also has expertise in network virtualization, optimization, cloud computing, and Internet architecture.

Mert OZARAR, PhD
Info Sec Global

Subject: Cyber Security in a Non-Newtonian World

Mert OZARAR has been active in the information security industry for the last 15 years. He is capable of viewing abstract and present cyber security concepts through a business lens. He has previously acted as the software engineer, project manager and R&D officer at TürkTrust. Currently, he is the Director of Technical Services at InfoSec Global (ISG) HQ. Moreover, he is conducting regional operations in Middle East and North Africa as a managing director of the local branch. He is serving as security researcher, validator, technical expert, responder, business developer and lead for global accounts. Besides, he is one of the pioneers of the digital signatures in the region.

He has graduated from METU Computer Engineering and Mathematics departments with a Honor's double major program. He has further received his two M.Sc. degrees from Computer Engineering and Cryptography departments. He also holds a dissertation on Computer Security and Applied Cryptography from METU. Mert has several publications and book chapters on Information Security and is also an affiliated faculty at METU.

Semih YAGCIOGLU, Researcher
STM

Subject: Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications in Cybersecurity

 Semih YAGCIOGLU is responsible from the Big Data Product and Service Development Group at STM where he focuses on research and development of AI and ML methods for various tasks. Semih graduated from Eskişehir Osmangazi University Computer Engineering Department and received his MSc degree in Engineering Management from METU. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at Hacettepe University working in the Computer Vision Lab with Aykut Erdem and Erkut Erdem. Semih is interested in learning algorithms and work at the intersection of language and vision.

Sedef DEMIRCI, Researcher
Gazi University

Subject: Protecting Networks in the Age of Softwarization: SDN and NFV Security

Sedef DEMIRCI is a research assistant at Gazi University Department of Computer Engineering. She received her MSc degree in the same department on social media mining, analysis and security. She has two patent applications and received two awards for her MSc thesis project. She is currently pursuing her PhD on optimizing software defined security applications under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Şeref Sağıroğlu. Her research interests include software defined networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), information security, social media analytics and data mining.
